History (from Sentinel in the The Vigilante Chronicles[1][]

“Time of Disgrace” - When he was a young nacht he fell in love with a woman named Catherine who was being attacked by 2 men. He saw Catherine as a bright light and himself as darkest death, but she kissed him despite him being covered in blood. When she later fell ill and could not be cured with medicine at the rim he successfully turned her nacht. Men later killed her. This threw Barnabas into a rage, where he killed everyone he could find until he got caught out in the sunlight after an unknown amount of time. He almost lost his life to sunlight and it brought him back to his senses. He was ashamed of what he had done. He went to a monastery and became a monk so that he could find peace and control over his actions. He later was a traveling monk rather than being stuck at one monastery. He decided to never get involved in conflicts other than to be someone who would listen to people from any side of the conflict.

The Kurtherian Gambit[]

Kneel or Die[]

Barnabas is a deeply religious person that spent his time searching for “enlightenment” and wore a monk’s habit. He visits David shortly before David's life-ending meeting with Michael and Bethany Anne. David accepts his offer at least until he has defeated his foes. When Barnabas visits Bethany Anne they have a discussion where she finds out he is sensitive to the flow of Etheric energy. He has been able to sense her as she travels through the Etheric.

One point in Barnabas’s favor was that he had never been an enemy to any of Michael’s children. David truly believed that even he would defend Barnabas if necessary.

Barnabas is finally ready to give her his oath and they discuss what he could do for her, after she rejects his suggestions, she creates the “Rangers” and that he will have the top position, Ranger 1. [3]

After discussions with Bethany Anne, Barnabas decided that it may be okay to get involved in conflicts. He took on the roll of a judge so that people had a fair hearing before being sentenced to justice. After the Etheric Empire was established, he became Ranger One and acted as a sort of roaming detective/judge and enacted justice.

Upon the dissolution of the Queen's Rangers due to the Etheric Empire becoming the Etheric Federation, Barnabas decides that his loyality is to Bethany Anne, not to governing body. He became a vigilante and was given Bethany Anne's stealth ship the Shinigami to help with him.

Barnabas lets Maria know that even though the Thule have advanced technology there is nothing the Etheric Empire actually needs. The Empire is there to protect the Thule and make sure the technologies do not fall into the hands of other countries causing mass destruction. Maria realizes the only sensible course is to go the stars with Bethany Anne with their technology.
