Series Description[]

After surviving a shadow monster ambush, Marsh must get back to civilization, keep two kids alive, and make a delivery.

But, with shadow monsters and raiders closing the trade routes, she’s out of a job, and lost beneath the ruins of one of the greatest cities of the world. She doesn’t need a deserted farm to complicate things… or a parentless pup… or to be hunted by a hoshkat. What she needs is to find a way home… through the dark… but the predators are out in force, and home is a very long way away.

Can she discover what happened at Leon’s Deep, in time to stop it from happening again? Or did she escape the ambush, only to see the rest of her world fall to the ones behind it?

Setting[]

Kurtherian Gambit Universe Earth after the Age of Madness in France around Paris. Society has fallen to a medieval, agrarian level with no electricity or internal combustion power. The meager population lives in caverns and mainly travels via tunnels rather than moving over the surface. Some people can no longer travel on the surface without protection for their eyes.

Travel is by mule and the communities have minimal trading and then mostly in food stuffs. The resources are so tight that even the "good guys" kill their prisoners after questioning because there are not enough resources to support prisons.

While the majority of humans are mundanes and have learned magic, there are lycanthropes and remnants. Remnants are descended from survivors of the madness who were damaged beyond repair and the damage continues with their offspring.

  • Ruins Hall - Primary home of Founder Gravine. It becomes the central focus for the army he builds to unite the stations into a cohesive society
  • Kerrenin's Lodge, about 2-3 days from Ruins Hall
  • Mid-point waystation between Ruins Hall and Kerrenin;s Ledge. This had been taken over by over 250 raiders who were killed in Trading Close to Light.
  • Leon's Deep, on the trail between Ruin's Hall and Kerrenin's Ledge, rally point for Raiders in Trading into Darkness.
  • Hawks Ledge, Marsh's uncle runs the waystation.
